More than a year after the first in-person meeting, we felt it was urgent to organize a new face-to-face congress, this time in Vienna.
In fact, last 20 and 21 January 2025, at least one representative of each member of the project met at the Austrian Institute of Technology to discuss the developments of the project.
Once both the retrospective and prospective patient recruitment phases were completed, the shipments of samples between the Centers were concluded, the analyzes on the retrospective cohort were finalized and those on the prospective cohort were started…it was possible to determine preliminary results and plan the work for the following months accordingly.
The analyzed data allowed us to draw encouraging and very interesting results in the diagnosis of undifferentiated autoinflammatory diseases, especially with regard to the characterization of recurrent fevers (SURF and PFAPA).
There is still a lot of work to be done and certainly the in-person discussion was very profitable, as well as fun, to plan the next steps.
Having obtained a 6-month extension from the Ministry of Health, the PerSAIDs project will end at the end of October 2025, so the next few months will be crucial for determining the results.
During the meeting we also organized an ELSI workshop with the online presence of representatives of 3 important patient organizations: AMRI from Genoa and FMF-AID from Germany and Spain
